Had a Great week on the boat bob with 3 of the best dives I’ve ever done.
Thanks for the heads up on the F2 Barge, get in 1st for the best vis you said, we managed to get in every room after having to dump our deco bottles to get down a narrow corridor.
The Makgraf was simply stunning, straight down the shot on to the Casemate guns, fining along at 45M checking out under the ship. I found and opening and squeezed under as my exhaled bubbles hit the deck the rust came down in a big shower over the top of me, Mark and Wayne followed and there she was a huge 12” gun the barrel so thick at the base I could not get my arms around it.
Deco is starting to rack up now so out we came and finned to the stern at 35mins bottom time we started our accent fining up the upturned hull to the rudders, they were huge 7meters tall and covered in brittle stars. Fining between the rudders there was a huge lobster just sitting in front of me I finned over a grabbed it turning it upside-down so I could not pinch me. I showed the lads then let him go, no catch bag on me and two gas switches to complete for my plan.
Surfaced after 74 mins. and lots of deco on 50% and 80%. Top Dive.
Tabakata was such a laugh, stayed inside well past slack and when trying to leave the wreck found the tide in the Burra sound racing a little to say the least, popped the SMB and jumped out into the full tidal flow even with the SMB up buoyancy control was impossible so I popped in my 80% reg and went for the ride. That’s a Picture of my VR3 and the profile looks a little frightening, but I figure what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!!
