Quiet second day

Posted in Dives on October 9th, 2006

Dresden then F2/Barge. The troops themselves are a mellow bunch too so the mood on the boat feels quite relaxed at the moment, perfect for a happy life but probrably less than interesting reading if you are glued to the blog.

Growing a beard at the moment, ready for the winter weather. Looks good from the inside, even though I say so myself.

Quiet first day

Posted in Dives on October 8th, 2006

Still mellow after the break so largely left the troops to their own devices.

Brummer/Karlsruhe cruiser double bill today. Weather good but forecast poor, vis “good”. They seemed to like the day so a result of sorts!

Somebody stole my camera to extract revenge but all they managed to get that was incriminating was this shot..!!

Back to school

Posted in Day to day doings on October 7th, 2006

Oh well, only managed to get a few of my jobs done but at least I have recharged my batteries ready for the final furlong.

Troops burst off the ferry having had a wee bit of a rough crossing: wind was a very strong NW this morning so the ferry came up thru the Flow. Surprisingly, the forecast for the week is not that bad. Will wait and see.

Told a lie

Posted in Day to day doings on October 1st, 2006

To all those people who looked up at the frame at the top of the Giant’s Legs, turned wistfully to me and asked what it was….. Well, I lied. It’s not the frame they used to hoist the amunition up for the gun.

Its a bunny gallows.

And to top it all, I got the car bogged down right up to the back axle.

Free at last!!

Posted in Day to day doings on September 30th, 2006

Ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa: big scream as I run thru the school gates and down the hill. Free at last. A week off. Divers gone and no more arriving. Time to recharge batteries and do squat diddly for a week. Yipeeeeeeeeeee.

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Adios.

Team photo.

Posted in Day to day doings on September 29th, 2006

No team photo cos someone was in the shower “doin’ her hair”.

You can feel the disappointment from RH: enough to make a grown man cry.

The week’s video may be delayed by a slight technical hitch…

Cracking day

Posted in Day to day doings on September 29th, 2006

Beautiful day today with just a touch of Autumn chill in the air. The geese have started to arrive too.

Pee valves

Posted in Day to day doings on September 27th, 2006

I don’t care what anyone says, it’s not natural to go for a pee with your suit on.

Wed dives

Posted in Dives on September 27th, 2006

Mgraff, F2 then Koln. Day started off dreigh but improved.

Scapa now

Posted in Day to day doings on September 26th, 2006

Every generation has found shelter in Scapa Flow so it is just as vibrant now as it ever was.

Tues dives

Posted in Dives on September 26th, 2006

Busy day today:

Mgraff/Koln split wave first followed by a drop to swim with some seals then the Dresden and then a night dive at Lyness Pier.

P9260056.jpg

Even managed a drop myself with a borrowed inspo. Would love one but need to agonise over it for a while longer.

How long skip?

Posted in Day to day doings on September 26th, 2006

“How long skip?”

Put it this way… I will be at the site before you are ready to diver.

See that.. no quotation marks. I didn’t say it: it was just a thought that never came out.

“20 mins”

That’s customer service for you.

Really annoying things..

Posted in Day to day doings on September 25th, 2006

“Cup of tea bob…?”

“Oh, that would be lovely”

Then half an hour later you have to go and chase that brew down.

More work needed on the manufacturing and delivery infrastructure, I think.

Monday dives

Posted in Dives on September 25th, 2006

Konig/Koln split am and planning the Brummer this afternoon.

Weather cracking. Vis a unifrom “good” today. Spit must have worked.

Sunday dives

Posted in Dives on September 24th, 2006

New group with split identity: battleship hard nuts and a contingent of scapa virgin softies! So Konig/Dresden split wave first followed by a Lyness lunch and then the Karlsruhe.

Weather clement and vis reports range from 20m- 3m. Think they need more spit in their masks.

Well it may be tame for EM but this is the view from my boat and I love her (my boat, that is) so there.

Thats it folks

Posted in Day to day doings on September 22nd, 2006

Well it was a good week for me: I wanted to work thru a lot of stuff about what a blog etc is about and I found the perfect springboard for that so I am a bit more at peace with writing stuff now.

We all have our demons but I think they had been put aside for a small while by the end of the week.

The bacon butties were nice but I hope the chef washed his hands between times.
